- Invasive Species of Acton
Invasive species can range from plants to animals, aquatic to terrestrial, and aggressive to slow-moving. The Massachusetts Invasive Plants Advisory Group (MIPAG) defines invasive plants as "non-native species that have spread into native or minimally managed plant systems in Massachusetts. These plants can cause economic or environmental harm by developing self-sustaining populations and becoming dominant and/or disruptive to those systems." The Town of Acton actively monitors and manages invasive plant species identified on Town land. The Land Stewardship Committee is directly involved in controlling invasive plant species on the Conservation Lands and trails.
