2022 Annual Town Election - Tuesday, March 29, 2022
Location: RJ Grey Junior High School (Gymnasium), 16 Charter Road
Polling Hours: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
No-Excuse and Absentee Voting by Mail
No-excuse voting by mail has been extended by state law until June 30, 2021, and is available for all registered voters. Absentee voting is still available for residents as well and must be submitted every year to the Town Clerk's office.
Requesting a Ballot
Please click the links below to download either a no-excuse vote by mail or an absentee ballot application. Once completed, the applications can be submitted by mail to Town Hall, 472 Main Street, Acton, MA 01720, by email to clerk@actonma.gov, or by fax to 978-929-6340.
You should complete an absentee ballot application if you are:
- A military voter on active duty;
- A Massachusetts citizen residing outside of the United States;
- A voter who has been admitted to the hospital within 1 week of the election;
- A voter who has been quarantined within 1 week of the election;
- A voter who is incarcerated.

Ballots may be returned by mail or in-person to Town Hall. Voters may also use the drop-boxes located to the right of the entrances of Town Hall (see photo to right)

- Tuesday, February 8, 2022 - Last day to submit nomination papers
- Wednesday, March 9, 2022 - Last day for voter registration
- Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - Election Warrant posted

- Select Board - 2 Members, 3-year term
- ABRSD School Committee - 2 Members, 3-year term
- Trustee, Memorial Library - 1 Member, 3-year term
- Acton Housing Authority - 1 Member, 5-year term
- Acton Water District - 1 District Commissioner, 3-year term
Voting in Acton
Voter registration must be completed by the deadline in order to vote in a given election. The last day to register to vote for any election held on or before 12/31/21 will be 20 days prior to the election. Click here to register: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/
The Residents of Acton have at least two opportunities to vote for local offices and issues each year, the Annual Town Election & the Annual Town Meeting. If an additional Special Town Election or Special Town Meeting is being called, residents will be notified once the date is set. The State Election calendar can be found here. Voter registration must be completed by the deadline in order to vote in a given election.
The Annual Town Election is held on the Tuesday immediately preceding the first Monday in April of each year. During this election, voters may either vote by absentee ballot after submitting an absentee ballot application or vote at their designated polling location. The Town is divided geographically into 7 precincts. Click here for help finding your precinct.
The Annual Town Meeting is held on the first Monday in April of each year. The Town issues a Warrant which contains all of the items being voted on. If all of the items in the Warrant are not covered on the first night, the Town Meeting will continue onto additional consecutive nights. Participants must be present in order to vote in this Parliamentary-style election.
All precincts attend Town Meetings at the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, 36 Charter Rd.

Some of the Boards and Committees in Acton are elected directly by the residents of Acton. Others are appointed by the Select Board, Town Moderator, or Town Manager.

Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee - 7 of 11 Members from Acton, 3 Year Terms
Acton Housing Authority - 3 Elected Members, 1 State Appointed, 5 Year Terms
Acton Water District - 3 Year Terms
Trustees of the Acton Memorial Library - 3 Members, 6 Corporate Members, 3 Year Terms
