School Bus Safety

As the school year starts across the nation, thousands of school buses take to the streets to safely transport our children to and from school. The Acton Police Department works in conjunction with the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District (ABRSD) conducting school bus training twice a year for our students.

Last year, all ABRSD buses were equipped with cameras to add extra safety measures for the driver and the students.

As you will see in this video, three violators pass by the school bus while off loading a student who is crossing the street. The Acton Police have used video from our buses in the past to successfully prosecute violators who do not stop for a bus with flashing red lights.

The Acton Police Department will be working closely with the ABRSD Transportation Department again this year helping to ensure the highest level of safety for community.

Please watch the video and please be mindful of the buses traveling in our community and throughout our nation.
