Responsibilities
- Studying the resources and needs of the Town, particularly conditions affecting public welfare and safety related to land use and development
- Using the Master Plan and related processes to plan and make recommendations for the development of the Town, with special attention to the proper housing of its inhabitants
- Overseeing all subdivisions and administration of the subdivision bylaw, along with numerous special permits required by the Town's zoning bylaws
- Writing of zoning bylaws, which must be approved by Town Meeting
The Board is assisted in its day-to-day work by the Planning Department
