Seeking Volunteers for Public Works Facility Building Committee

The Select Board is seeking Acton residents to serve on the Public Works Facility Building Committee.

This new committee will work with Town staff and the Town Manager to recommend the expenditure of the $1,225,000 approved in Article 6A of the 2023 Annual Town meeting, along other funds, to evaluate the scope, design, service levels, and financial estimates for the design and construction of a new DPW building, fuel depot, and site.

The committee shall conduct extensive public outreach and shall update the Select Board at appropriate intervals.  View the full committee charge here:

Ideal candidates will have experience in construction, energy-efficiency design, engineering, architecture, finance, legal, real estate development, public works operations or other complementary skills.

The Select Board created this new Public Works Facility Building committee on July 10, 2023 as the next step in the planning for a new Public Works Facility. More information about the earlier steps in this process is found below:

In 2022, a DPW Facility Study Committee completed its work which included a review of the 2021 feasibility study and made recommendations which were adopted by the Select Board and approved at the 2023 Town Meeting.  The final recommendation from this former committee may be found at the following link:

The 2021 feasibility study (Architecture and Engineering Evaluation for the Department of Public Works and Transfer Station & Recycling Facility by Weston & Sampson) may be found here:
