Town Manager John S. Mangiaratti and the Select Board announce that the Town of Acton has dedicated $40,000 from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to offer a new child care subsidy program.
Families residing in Acton who are at or below 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible to receive the child care subsidy.
Funds will be awarded to eligible families on a first-come, first-served basis using the following ARPA guidelines for household size and income limit:
Families also must show that child care services are needed for parents/guardians to maintain employment, attend school, or search for a job.
Participating families will receive a subsidy of up to $3,000 per year to cover the cost of child care or after-school care for children ages 13 and under. Subsidies can be used at any Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) licensed program, or at the Acton-Boxborough Extended Day program through Acton-Boxborough Community Education or Acton Recreation Department.
The program will run from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, or until all funds are used.
Residents interested in the program should contact the Community Services Office at 978-929-6651 or firstname.lastname@example.org. To view the application, click here.
